Waiting, Waiting, Waiting...

Well, it seems like I'm waiting for everything lately. Waiting for preapproval from China is torture. Add to that a wait to hear back on my newest proposal and things get even worse.

I can't complain about the wait on the proposal, though. After months of suffering writer doubts and putting off mailing in the completed proposal, I finally managed to get up my courage and mail it. LAST WEEK. Sigh.

This morning, I heard from my wonderful editor Melissa Endlich. I'm happy to say she already read the proposal. I'm even happier to say she loved it. She asked for a brief description of the second and third story in the series I was proposing. Fortunately my procrastinating to mail in the proposal gave me plenty of time to think about story ideas. I was able to do a one page write-up for each book and email it to her within a couple of hours of her query.

So now I'm waiting again.

I suppose Melissa will send the proposal up to Tina who will make the final decision about buying (or not)the three book series.

I love writing. I love being an author.

I do not love waiting.

I have confidence they'll all be picked up. :) But I'm sure the waiting is torture.

Where is this series set? Any thought to writing a series set in the north west now that you call it home?

Actually, two of the books are set in WA.

Didn't you just do revisions?

A friend of mine read it and said it didn't have enough suspense in the beginning. Everything happened at the middle and end.

So I'm going over it and trying to crank up the suspense before submitting again. Only one more shot with this book, I want to make it the best I can. :0/

I can't wait to read your new series. It's been a while since I've read anything set in Washington.

Did the editor say there wasn't enough suspense at the beginning?

I think sending a project in after revisions is scarier than sending it in the first time. As you said, this is your shot. I'm glad you're taking your time.

Of course, don't be like me a let fear keep you from moving forward. Sometimes self-doubts can get the best of us and we hesitate. At some point that baby has got to fly out the door!

Ahhh. I never thought of that. No the editor didn't mention that at all. Definitely something to think about. :) Thanks. I needed that. I'm hoping to send it back by the second week in March. I made myself a deadline.

And I've made another deadline to get my other book (a LI romance) sent in by the middle of May. I have a little over 25K done already.
