New Inspiration

When I wrote my first published book, I had been inspired by Smith Mountain Lake. My mother-in-law had just had a house built, and the beauty and serenity of the place touched something deep in my soul. Every time I visit Kitty, I am reminded of Romans 1:20 - For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.

There is so much beauty in this world it is seemingly impossible to believe that it happened by chance. Creation cries out, demanding our attention, commanding us to acknowledge the truth.

Here in Spokane, I look at distant mountains and deep blue sky, I hear the whisper of wind through fields of long grass and I want to drink it all in, write it all down. I am not an artist who paints or draws. I am a word artist. My books are my canvas. My words my medium.

And this new place I've come to is ripe with inspiration.

What inspires you?

Shirlee, I just realized you're posting pictures. You never post pictures or links. Look at you!!! :)

What a lovely view. I hope you have an office with a view.

It only took me several years to realize I could do this. Ha!

My office is in the dining room and that's the view from the window. The white fence seperates our yard from our pasture. And the pretty tree is an apple tree. My daughter and I picked apples the other day and baked an apple pie.

Like I said....lots of inspiration!

Wow so is the guest room ready for a visit? I still plan on coming. Good for you. I am so glad you can see God in His creation.

The guest room is almost ready. I am going to paint after I finish peeling wall paper from the bathroom and painting there. There's a great fire place and lots of storage. You'll want to stay a while!

Oh...you'll love this...to get to my house you drive over Spokane River. There's a neat park we can go to with a walking trail, etc. Even better...there's a to-die-for Thai place in Spokane Valley!

Dani, there is going to be a writing conference here this weekend. It's for American Christian Writers (I think that was the group). I was thinking of going, but decided not to. If you find their website, you'll figure out why. :0)

Out of curiosity, how are you, Darlene, and Dani related/friends? I always see their names and have always wondered. If I'm too nibby, tell me. LOL

Ah, I see why ;o) Don't blame you one bit.

I still can't believe how beautiful your view is. Makes me long to move out in the country....sigh....

I finished the first draft of my new book!!!! I'm starting on revisions.... Oh, I was bummed to see Krista is leaving Steeple Hill, but it's wonderful she gets to run a program. I wonder you will come on board at Steeple Hill.

I haven't heard a word about who the new editor will be. :0(

Have you heard anything about your manuscript? I'm anxious to hear. I've lost your phone number AGAIN. Grrrr. Congrats on finishing the new book.

The cool thing about living here is that I feel like I'm in the country but shopping is four minutes away! Also, downtown Spokane is a fifteen minute drive.

Sabrina, Dani and Darlene are both good friends. Darlene is a missionary in Mexico and I've known her since we met in Thailand during high school! Dani and I met on-line and have been friends since. We actually went to an ACFW conference together. It was a blast.

BTW, I'm planning on RWA in DC. That's going to be so much fun!

Yay! RWA DC will be so much fun!! We need to talk Laurinda and Brenda into a Muppets reunion :O)

I'll email you my number. Let me know if you don't get my email here b/c my email has been weird lately.

How fun you have each other. :) I wondered if you were friends or sisters. Now I know.

I'm also bummed Krista is leaving the line. I admit I was surprised at the line she's taking over. As a first reader for Steeple Hill, I occasionally get asked to read for the other lines. I can't imagine working with it day after day. I'd be blushing constantly. Especially after being on the LI line so long. :0/

So you're going to RWA. Will you go to ACFW next year? I'm hoping to. The year after that it's going to be in my state so I should be able to go that year.

Better get back to my writing. I have very little time before the family gets back from football practice. :)

I've got some news on the new editor, but have to wait to get permission before I post it.
